Headaches

Patient experiencing headaches

45 million Americans suffer from headaches each year. Unfortunately, many of those people experience headaches frequently, and some, constantly. When most people get headaches, they try to ignore the symptoms, continue throughout their day, and take some form of medication to help reduce the symptoms. This is no way to live.

Chiropractic care can help to reduce headaches or eliminate them through safe, gentle, spinal adjustments! Many headaches are caused by biomechanical stressors making the body unable to function at its highest ability. Through chiropractic adjustments, we look to achieve improved range of motion, reduced stress, improved blood flow, and most importantly, improved nerve flow to every tissue in the body.

Low Back Pain

Sciatica is a condition that causes pain in the lower back, down the back of the leg, and often times into the foot. When the vertebrae in the low back are compressed or restricted, the roots of the sciatic nerve can become pinched and irritated causing pain, tingling, numbness or weakness into the lower extremity. Sciatica can make sitting and standing for long periods of time difficult and can even affect how you sleep or other activities of daily living.  It will often come and go throughout a person's lifetime, causing periods of varying degrees of pain and discomfort. If left unchecked, sciatic pain will generally grow worse and the nerve can become permanently injured.

By correcting the problem at its source, it is common to seek relief and resolve the problem though chiropractic care. At Anchored Health Chiropractic we strive to properly diagnose and treat conditions of the spine including sciatica.

Shoulder Pain

Patient grabbing shoulder in pain

There are many causes of shoulder pain, all of which depends on the area that is injured. Often the shoulder will become irritated from overuse but other causes such as trauma, can lead to pain and discomfort as well. Many common shoulder injuries can lead to severe pain and to further injuries over time if left untreated.

Tendonitis is a common condition that affects many individuals. Tendons around the shoulder are susceptible to tremendous wear and tear causing inflammation and pain. Rotator cuff injuries are regularly seen because the rotator cuff is composed of tendons, muscles, and the tissues connected to them. If an injury occurs, it is because of tendon issues, whether it is worn down or ignored after an injury.

Without proper treatment, the intense pain you are experiencing can become worse and eventually cause immobility, otherwise known as “frozen shoulder”. This stiffness is usually caused by increased levels of scar tissue that has accumulated in the injured area. If you suffer from any pain in your shoulder, it is important to receive an evaluation to help diagnose the issue and create a treatment plan to resolve it. Extremity Pain

Jaw pain

There are many symptoms associated with having extremity dysfunction including numbness, tingling, burning, or simply pain. Diagnosing the problem can be a difficult task and at Anchored Health Chiropractic we look to properly diagnose and treat the problem, not just cover up the symptoms.

One common reason individuals seek care regarding extremity pathology is because of a trauma, whether it be a sports injury, work injury, or automobile injury. In other cases, symptoms begin and progressively get worse without any known cause. These are often overuse traumas that lead to tissue irritation, inflammation, and eventually pain. Some of the common conditions surrounding extremity pain include bursitis, tendonitis, sprains, strains, or arthritis.

Through chiropractic adjustments we look to restore proper nerve flow to areas of irritation. By adjusting the area of concern, we are able to improve biomechanical function of the affected extremity which will help to reduce inflammation and irritation. Additionally, we look to the spine to ensure that all the nerves exiting the spine and traveling to each extremity has no interference from misaligned vertebrae.

Carpal Tunnel

Patient experiencing pain from carpel tunnel

There is a passageway in the wrist called the carpal tunnel where the median nerve passes through. When this nerve becomes compressed or irritated by Inflammation or swelling it can cause the pain, numbness or tingling in the hand or fingers. This is known as carpel tunnel syndrome.

There are many causes that relate to developing carpel tunnel. Some of the most common causes are overuse injuries such as typing or using repetitive twisting motion of the wrist will using tools. Other causes of carpel tunnel include trauma or even pregnancy.

Chiropractic care can help get to the root cause of carpel tunnel by properly diagnosing and removing any unwanted stress on the median nerve. This can be achieved by making sure there is proper nerve flow leaving the spine and making it to the hand and fingers through chiropractic adjustments.

Disc Injury

Herniated discs are relatively common conditions that can occur anywhere along the spine. In most cases, herniated discs will affect the lower back and neck.

Often, herniated discs are the result of gradual wear and tear that naturally accompanies aging. This process is called disc degeneration. With age, your spinal discs become less flexible and dehydrated making them more susceptible to rupture due to a loss of water content. The discs in your spine act as the cushion between your vertebrae. As they become dehydrated, they transmit more force to the vertebrae, causing more wear and tear. A disc can rupture or bulge putting pressure on any surrounding nerves.

Herniated discs can also be created by an injury that causes sudden jerking movements such as a car accident. Improper lifting of objects and heavy weight bearing exercises are other common causes to herniated discs.

Auto Injuries

Studies show that accidents with speeds as slow as 6 m.p.h. can cause significant damage to the neck and spine. Untreated whiplash and soft tissue damage should not be taken lightly — though it is often easy for a person involved in a motor vehicle collision to brush it aside, assuming the injuries will get better on their own.

Anchored Health Chiropractic advises victims of motor vehicle collisions to schedule treatment right away. The sooner you receive a thorough exam and chiropractic adjustment, the less chance the injury will have to take hold of your body and your life.

Treating injuries sustained from a car accident (including minor fender benders) involves receiving specific adjustments, and performing an assigned set of exercises geared towards stabilizing the muscles and ligaments that support the spine. Spinal adjustments help to reposition injured and stressed bones to promote proper healing.

Here in Minnesota persons involved in motor vehicle collisions have 100% coverage through their automobile insurance for chiropractic care. Contact our team at Anchored Health Chiropractic today to get you on the  right track to healing!
